Music

The music program at The Gunnery offers a wide range of high quality musical experiences to the interested student. For instrumental performers we have the Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Ensemble, and World Drumming classes.  For singers, we have a Chorus, The Gunnery Troubadors and the Intensive Vocal Workshop, where students learn vocal technique and solo singing. We also have several classes that teach a skill but do not involve performances. Piano Skills teaches basic piano playing. Music technology and audio recording both use computers to create music using computers; the first uses synthesizers, and the second allows students to record other students' performances.

The performer and the non-performer, the singer and the instrumentalist, the jazz musician and the classical musician, all will find something of interest to involve them in the musical life of The Gunnery.
Drama
The drama program at The Gunnery offers a range of electives to the interested student, including classes in Acting and Movement and Scene Study. In addition, The Gunnery Drama Society presents two productions each year - typically a play in the fall and a musical in the spring - providing opportunites for actors, singers, dancers and stage crew.

Visual Arts
The visual arts program at The Gunnery offers a wide range of high quality experiences to the interested student.   For highly motivated junior and senior art students we offer Intensive Art Studio, which presents students with a unique opportunity to develop a portfolio for art school and to acquire knowledge of the professional art world and careers in the visual arts.  Students have the opportunity to submit  materials to the Advanced Placement Studio Art Exam if they complete the requisite amount of work.  We also offer courses in drawing, three-dimensional design, color explorations, ceramics, graphic design, painting, and photography.

In addition, students have the opportunity to work on different publications:  the school yearbook, the Stray Shot literary magazine, the school newspaper, and the English Journal.  We also offer an afternoon arts option.
