| Completing College Applications |

In September of the senior year each student receives The Gunnery’s College Workbook. This workbook contains all of the information necessary for the successful completion of college applications.
Applications should be submitted on-line whenever possible. The Common Application is available at www.commonapp.org and on GunnNet. This is a secure website which allows you to complete and send your application electronically. Required supplements are also available on this website. Proofread all applications carefully.
Application fees range from $30-$70. The application fee may be waived or reduced if submitted on-line. Payment can be made by credit card or, if not accepted, by check or money order.
The student’s Personal Statement should be well thought out and carefully written to reflect his/her unique qualities, insights, and experiences.
Teacher recommendations will be written on The Gunnery’s recommendation forms. Each student must obtain the signatures of two teachers who will write a recommendation.
A college admissions file will contain:

Application with personal statement (if not submitted on-line)

Supplement (if not submitted on-line)

Application fee (if necessary

Transcript

Two teacher recommendations

College counselor’s profile
-
School profile with grade distribution
The first three items on the list are the student’s responsibility and most colleges prefer to receive these items on-line. When those items are complete for all the colleges to which a student is applying, the College Counseling office will complete the admissions file and mail it to each college.
