It is the responsibility of you, the parent, to insure and maintain
effective and appropriate communication with your child's progress
and well-being at the school. The school is providing an environment
and context conducive for growth and self-actualization, but in no
way can the school be expected to be held accountable to the same
vital guiding roles of a parent. The school mails grade and advisor
reports home six times per year; and hosts a parent weekend in
October, insuring formal contact at strategic intervals. Gunnery
e-mail contact for faculty and staff is last name followed by first
initial @gunnery.org.
Therefore: [lastname][fi]@gunnery.org
e.g. smithj@gunnery.org
Athletic contests and various student performances or functions are
additional formats where parents may choose to be on campus
frequently. Deportment for parents as community members and role
models is important. For desired conversations with faculty as
coaches, we ask only that a parent arrange an appointment to meet
with a coach - or wait 24 hours following a contest before
initiating telephone or e-mail contact. Experience has taught us
this protocol serves all parties best. In addition to the above
opportunities for formal contact, conferences at the school may be
arranged upon formal request and by appointment through the
appropriate administrative office.
It is the school’s expectation, although not mandatory, that when asked to donate to the Parent Fund, parents will respond positively. All gifts to the Parent Fund support your child’s education on a daily basis.
Remember that student success is a collaborative venture whose goal
is personal growth and commitment to the ideals of the school.
Student re-enrollment for any year is subject to review.
The school hopes that parents will acquaint themselves with The
Gunnery Student Handbook prior to the start of the school year, for
adherence to school rules and expectations is a condition of
enrollment. Students who violate major rules or who accumulate
excessive demerits/points over a protracted period of time, and/or
those who struggle academically may be subject to earlier review and
possible separation. |
