The Application Process
  1. If you have not aleady done so, contact the Admissions Office to express your interest in The Gunnery or complete an online admissions inquiry.


  2. Complete our application online or download the application in PDF format and submit it to our office by January 31 along with the $50 application fee ($75 for international applicants). If you need a hard copy of the application, please call our office or complete the online inquiry form and we will mail one to you. We do accept the Association of Boarding Schools common application (available at www.schools.com) but you must also submit The Gunnery's Application Form and Parent Statement.


  3. Call the Admissions Office to schedule a campus visit. Appointments are available Monday through Saturday during the academic day and will include a student-led tour of our campus and an interview, as well the opportunity to meet with a specific coach or program director upon request. Visits generally take about two hours. If you would like to attend a day of classes in addition to your tour and interview, please let us know when you call to schedule your visit.


  4. Register to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). Registration information is available through our office or online at www.ssat.org. Our SSAT Code number is 3628. We will also consider other testing, such as the PSAT or the SAT - please consult with our office to determine which test is most appropriate given your individual circumstances. Our international applicants must also sumbit TOEFL or SLEP scores. Please contact Shannon Baudo, Associate Director of Admissions, at baudos@gunnery.org or 860-868-7334 ext. 240 to learn which test will be required.


  5. Distribute the Transcript Release, Guidance Counselor/Advisor recommendation form, Math and English teacher recommendation forms, as well as any Extracurricular recommendation form(s), and ask that they be returned directly to The Gunnery before January 31.


  6. If you are a candidate for financial aid, please refer to our Financial Aid Policy or you may contact Laura Martin, Director of Financial Aid, at 860-868-7334 x531 or martinl@gunnery.org with any questions you may have.


  7. We encourage you to stay in touch with the Admissions Office to check on the status of your application and supporting materials. We will notify you when your application is complete and ready for review by the Admissions Committee. Decision letters are mailed on March 10 and your reply is expected by April 10. Applications received after March 10 will be considered on a rolling admission basis. Please contact us if you have any questions or would like more information.
