The Senior Seminar program has been developed with several objectives in mind. By introducing a student to the lecture/seminar format, and by increasing the amount of independent and group work the students do in as well as out of class, the seminar program seeks to place significant responsibility for the course work on the students. Individual responsibility is particularly important because the seminar is a two credit course, with a proportionately increased workload. The Senior Seminar is an appropriate culmination of students’ secondary school education and an effective introduction to the demands of college.
The seminar is a full year course, offers two (2) academic credits and the grade carries the weight of two courses. A special notice is included in all participants' college applications describing the content and workload of the course. The seminars will be scheduled for at least five 70 minute periods each week.
