The Gunnery Gears Team #6811 was among 36 high school teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire that participated in the FIRST® Robotics Competition March 6-8 at Wilby High School in Waterbury.

The Gunnery team brought home the Judges' Award for teamwork during the New England district event. According to FIRST Robotics, "during the course of the competition, the judging panel may decide a team’s unique efforts, performance, or dynamics merit recognition," which is reflected in the presentation of the Judges' Award.

This was the second and final competition of the season for The Gunnery Gears, which was led by team captains Maxwell Rhodes '20, Henry Barthelemy '21 and Riley Hurley '21. It was one of 39 high school teams that participated in the New England FIRST Robotics Competition held February 28-March 1 at Woodstock Academy.

At The Gunnery, robotics is a class offered to students as part of the IDEAS Lab curriculum during the winter term. Students can design, code, and build a robot for the annual FIRST Robotics competition by enrolling in a course, or joining a co-curricular, or club.  A total of 18 students participated this year.
