Support

The Parents Fund

Dear Gunnery Parents,

Over the next few months, an enthusiastic group of parent volunteers will be reaching out to all Gunnery parents to talk with you about The Parents Fund and its importance in our students’ lives. As the Parents Fund Committee Chair, I ask that you take the time to speak with these volunteers when they reach out to you.

To give you a little context, The Parents Fund is The Gunnery’s annual giving program, which is fueled by donations from the current parent community. It supports all aspects of The Gunnery experience and contributing to it -- as part of The Gunnery Fund -- is an essential and well-regarded tradition. Moreover, The Gunnery has a strong history of parent giving, with a record-breaking 80 percent of parents making a gift to The Parents Fund last year!

This year, our goal is to raise $360,000 and reach 100 percent giving participation. Gifts of all sizes have an immediate impact on every Gunnery student and teacher, and support many aspects of campus life, including extracurricular activities, campus renewal, faculty development, and technology.

So please join us in supporting the 2017-18 Parents Fund by making a gift today. Your participation -- at any level -- will make a difference, and will help our students learn and thrive in the best environment possible.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Parent Leadership Giving

Each fall during Parents Weekend, the Head of School hosts a special recognition dinner to honor those families who provide their generous support for the Parents Fund at the leadership level of $1,000 or more. For the 2016-17 Parents Fund, 50 families made a gift at this important level.

Founded in 1850 by abolitionist, educator, and outdoorsman Frederick Gunn, The Gunnery is a coeducational college preparatory boarding and day school for students in grades 9 through 12/post-graduate. Dedicated teacher-mentor-coaches challenge students to reach their full potential in a home-like setting where character and citizenship are valued as much as intellect and achievement. Individualized attention and high expectations help young learners develop not only the skills and confidence they will need in college, but also the moral compass and love of learning that will serve them well in life. The school attracts ambitious, academically curious students who will both shine as unique individuals and thrive as contributing members of a deeply connected community. By the time they graduate, Gunnery students have become well rounded, grounded young adults with a sharpened sense of who they are and who they want to become.
